Bitcoin.. the future of currency development or an economic bubble?
The topic of today’s podcast is Bitcoin. What is Bitcoin? Is it a useful tool to save value, and a good investment, or is it just a bubble and an illusion? What is its future? How does Bitcoin solve the problem of inflation? How do we understand the fluctuation or volatility of its price? What is unique about Bitcoin that makes it a better option than other cryptocurrencies?
These questions and more are discussed by the host Maher Gabra in conversation with the author and the economist Dr. Saifedean Ammous, who has several works in economics among them the well-known book “The Bitcoin Standard: the decentralized alternative to central banking,” which has been translated into 25 languages.
Dr. Ammous holds a PhD in Sustainable Development from Columbia University. His PhD thesis focused on the economics of biofuels and alternative energy sources. He holds an MA in Development Management from the London School of Economics, and a BA in Engineering from the American University in Beirut. Currently, Dr. Ammous teaches economics and works on research projects related to monetary economics and Bitcoin economics. Many of his research works are available on his website:
